The main message of BaDIK is about families and their problems, so I consider this as an option: Maya losing her family.

He did the same thing with AL where Ep 6 completed all the setup choices and Eps 7 & 8 were the finale and epilogue respectively where our choices came home to roost.

I also don't think he's going to just do a 2 episode final season for Steam and there was another part to that Q&A answer where he said something along the lines of how S4 wouldn't a "regular" or "normal" season, or whatever word he used. I look at that as him hinting at what I just said, that Eps 13 & 14 are the regular episodes with choices, minigames, parties, etc, but then Eps 15 & 16 play out more linear as you play through the ending and the consequences of your choices. That would qualify as a non-typical season in my books.

That's quite dark if i'm being honest. I get the part where Helen dies because of her sickness, but Patrick commiting suicide is going on a dark path. It could destroy Maya and Derek's relationship if this happen if i'm being honest.

It's hard, but I love it when AVNs do this, throwing the player out of the safe space and forcing him to experience difficult emotions. Here is dear player, look what your actions led to, if you had acted smarter, everything could have been different.

This comment is based on what some talk about the total length of the game. Honestly, I don't care if it has 14, 16 or 25 episodes, obviously all of us here enjoy the game and want it to last as long as possible, but I think I speak for the majority when I say that the total number of chapters doesn't matter. The most important thing is that it has a well-done and appropriate ending for a great game like this.

Multiple endings and continue what has characterized the game, which is nothing other than good humor, charismatic characters and a great story.

I have never been a big fan of university type games, but this one has managed to hook me to such an extent that I have even donated to Patreon and followed the updates very closely. I have never donated to games that have not been finished (I think most of you already know the reason)

Let's hope we don't have to wait too long to enjoy the end of the game and dream of DPC starting another project as big as this one. And if it doesn't, at least we will have enjoyed one of the best VNs I have had the pleasure of playing.

PD: Sorry if my English is not perfect, I always say it but what I know I learned by myself and sometimes translating some words do not fit well within the context of what I want to say, even so I think you understand me.

No I don't disagree with you at all. A 2 episode season that is effectively just epilogues is ludicrous (but let's be honest not beyond DPC esp as you're right he did say season 4 would not be typical)

But let's look at is from both sides, he was originally counting the epilogues in his count, in which case we have even less time than we first thought, in which case it's "ending" at 12, we are definitely in the endgame.

Or, it "ends" at 14 more likely as this gives us 4 more chapters 11 Christmas, 12 valentines, 13 spring break 14 college year ends. Before our episode 15 and 16 epilogue (more likely this one) currently approaching chapter 11 of 14... Well into the last half of the story, a bit into the last third of the story and just entering the last quarter of the story. Again we are sorta in the endgame now.

Which bringing us back to the original point at hand It's by far no means to early to be introducing characters now, it's time for the outcomes of all those set ups in earlier chapters to start coming to fruition

The thing is it's many AVNs choose to ignore the actions have consequences route and prefer to apply the suspend your disbelief porn logic. And while yes you still get your ending and it's somewhat satisfying. The "you caused this with your decisions" either good or bad will ALWAYS trump them.

Now we got that warning at the start so we know it's got the potential to be dark. I've seen people throw out quotes and the likes stating DPC has said it won't go the same route as AL. (I can never really find a direct DPC source, so don't know exactly what was said) now we all know AL was pretty dark, but just because he's said it won't go that route doesn't mean this is going to be all sunshine and rainbows

Thing is, when you think about it, your actions in AL didn't lead to that bad thing happening, it happened regardless. So when people say how our actions as the player could lead to or cause bad endings and they reference AL in that, it's not entirely accurate considering it wasn't the player that did it then either.

This is why I think that, even with things that look like they could be bad, they ultimately won't be in the end and that there will always be a decent outcome even in the event of something bad happening. AL, again, did this because even though one of the friends burned to a crisp, Megan or Melissa come out alright in the end and go on to live a decent life with or without him.

I guess it will all depend on whether DPC remains the same kind of storyteller in this way, that even in the darkest of event outcomes there will still be a good future, or if he changes it up and makes our choices actually contribute to really dark outcomes.

Which is why I think James has to come back now. Bella's path needs some more drama and stakes to it and James is the biggest things that can do that, and better he come back now than in S4 when we're even closer to the endgame and even less time is given to this plot thread.

Also, I imagine there's got to be some impact even when not on Bella's path too because there is kind of this theme of the MC getting involved in drama even when not involved with MGs.

Absolutely 100% in agreement with you, he either needs to come back or we need to find out why he left or ultimately find out if he's buried under the patio.

Now the fact that we actually got a flashback/chapter begin dedicated to the James and Bella tells me we will get impact even off her path (otherwise why put it in) as to it being the fallout from the Christmas preview and the MC will be involved, I dont know. I'm currently drawing a blank at why MC would be there at Xmas while not on her path. (not to say there isn't a reason)

If that's a flashforward, then judging from the number of seats it looks like it could be Bella, MC, Maya, Josy, Sage, Jill, and 2 others, possibly Derek and James or maybe even Derek and Neil with James showing up during the dinner and creating drama.

Simplest explanation for me if that's the case with the dinner guests is they that don't really have anywhere else to go. Bella has no family, Maya and Derek still not on good terms with Patrick, Josy again doesn't want to spend a holiday with Monica, Sage not having or wanting to spend time with her adoptive family, Jill probably has issues with her family by that point too, and MC and Neil get invited because the MC is part of the friend group and it wouldn't be right to leave Neil alone.

See I agree I don't really think there's going to be a "fail state branch" here, the plot has to go on, with or without them.

"Patrick causes the destruction trying to get them back" Which makes no sense, because, you might not have got them, why would they be at Bellas if you did, how does Patrick know they are at Bellas if they did go there and so on and so on. Its just a silly out there thought.

So it turns out that many AVNs are just boring and uninteresting because there is no challenge and serious consequences. This is how it works for me and I just quit them. These games were considered as just a replacement for porn, but projects like DIK, AL, some others - made them more than just "i want to wank on 3D fuckfest"

That's right, the worst moments in AL were kinetic, endings that only varied depending on who you chose and how you behaved during the run, whether you stuck your dick in the cookie jar when you shouldn't have. Despite the game being a masterpiece, a significant part of the world lived without player decisions, just like in BaDIK. As for BaDIK Endgame...we will see.

Maya is decent despite the boring debt story. Episode 10 revealed her as a person much more than all the previous ones combined. So she takes her place among the other LIs and I can no longer call her uninteresting and boring. It's funny how Ep.10 flipped Maya and Josy completely for me.

Wasnt arguing at all. Blue Milk made a point that it's now getting to a point where it's not early to begin resolutions and is perhaps getting a little late. I agreed with him and gave the reasons I did.
